The energy that dominated the past six months was, to describe it as kindly as possible, ‘unwieldy.’ Though unwieldy it was a force of its own, a force best navigated day by day, breath by breath. I lost count of the number of times I told myself, ‘Just breathe,’ or repeated Neil Gaiman’s words, ‘Make good art.’
How many times did I return to the drawing board, so to speak, to ‘Let the Beauty I love be what I do’? That is, I suppose, the heart of any beauty regimen I may have.
So, I was quite surprised yesterday as I prepared my “face to meet the faces that you meet” to receive poetic insight about eye shadow: ‘That eye shadow really opens up your eyes.’
The nuances quickly formed a haiku.
